Well this is the last message
from me as a President of STPAM for the year 2005-06. The activities were so
hectic that it looks like that the year is passed in a blink.
At the moment of retiring I
am experiencing ambivalent feelings of joy and sorrow. I have got a sense of
satisfaction for whatever I could achieve and a sense of craving that I wish I
had little more time to complete my unfinished plan for the Association. But
as it is said that time and tide wait for none, we have to respect time and
accept things as it is!
Now, let me elaborate a
little on the happier aspect. In retrospect, when I look at the activities
performed in the last year, it gives me a sense of satisfaction that all the
activities that we organised evoked a very warm response from the members.
Right from starting from picnic then to NRRC, RRC, Workshops, International
RRC at Sri Lanka and Malaysia and lastly our Annual One-Day Seminar all got
overwhelming response from the members.
Then there were critical
moments at the time of TIN Application and New Registration and newly
introduced issue of ‘C’ Form procedures. There were host of issues that we had
to represent before the authorities and there were remedial action from the
Department. As a President I had to exercise art of balancing when two
opposite force had to work harmoniously. On number of issues we demanded
relaxation on compliance on practical grounds, which the Hon’ble Commissioner
granted, quoting his on word “tolerance management”.
Similarly, on certain issues
when we found that the Department’s stand was proper we had to convince our
members by making them aware about the purpose behind the issue.
I am happy to note that the
above referred exercise was successfully completed due to proactive approach
of the members of our Association and the Department.
Now, coming to unfinished
tasks, for which I wish that I had little more time to complete the same.
I wanted to start
Web-casting, so that whenever a lecture is organised at our Mazgaon Library
for a Study Circle meeting, the same can be heard through the internet all
over the Maharashtra State and for that matter any part of the world. But due
to some technical reason and paucity of time that could not be achieved. There
were some other plans though some were very minor but nevertheless for
improving the functionality of a particular activity, which remained to be
completed.
I am also anxious and
concerned about, though, in spite of our all efforts of representation for
allowing MVAT Audit to wider spectrum of professionals; i.e., to Advocates and
STPs etc. u/s 61, still no tangible result has come out. I hope we would be
succeeding in getting the same and the new committee would continue its
efforts in that direction.
Being the Immediate Past
president I will be a part of the newly elected Managing Committee and if all
the members feel and our newly elected President, Shri Tushar Joshi, permit to
complete certain unfinished above tasks, I will definitely work in that
direction.
Now let me express my
feelings and experience of working for the Association at the time of retiring
from the post of President. No doubt one has to sacrifice a lot in terms of
his time, family and social life and clients work but in return what one gets
in terms of love and respect is far greater, I believe, than what one has
sacrificed. There is definitely a sense of doing something for the profession,
which you belong to and you owe it to.
I would like to thank S/Shri

And last but not the least I
would like to thank of my friends and well wishers and all the members of our
Association for it was their encouragement and unequivocal support that helped
me to reach to such a highest position of our Association.

my commitment for the work for the cause of our Association, I remain,
