Announcement

New Due Date For Form 704

The Sales Tax Practitioners' Association of Maharashtra

President Communicates
Date:19.01.2009

Dear Members,

Sub: Due date of Form 704 in respect of the year 2007-08

In continuation of our SMS regarding extension of due date upto 2nd March, 2009, I hereby further inform you as follows.

The Department is coming out with the new concept of e-enrolment for all registered dealers. Every registered dealer is now required to enroll himself electronically for every kind of electronic filing. This e-enrolment is obligatory for every registered dealer even though he has already made e-registration for filing electronic returns.

After e-enrolment is made by a registered dealer, the 'Acknowledgment' will be made available on the website. The signed copy of the Acknowledgment is required to be furnished in the Department only once. After furnishing such copy, there is no need to furnish the signed acknowledgment of e-return which at present is required to be furnished within 10 days from uploading the return.

The Department wants every registered dealer to get e-enrolment in a very short time and as the Sales Tax Practitioners were hesitant to do the same job before 31st January 2009 because of heavy pressure of VAT AUDIT, the Commissioner of Sales Tax was not wiling to extend the Due date for Form 704.

After discussion with the undersigned it is decided that Form 704 filed after 31st January, but on or before 2nd March, will be treated as filed in time if such dealer furnished the copy of 'Acknowledgement of e-enrolment' as a proof along with Form 704.

For further clarification if necessary, all are requested to wait for the Trade Circular to be issued in next 7 to 8 days.

Kindly Note that no further extension will be granted.

Regards,
Deepak Bapat
President
